Rewind to 2012.
Three longtime coworkers were drawn to each other by many like minded things: wine, movies, books. Another big one was the desire to become a writer. A book club was formed. We each had been writing on our own individual ideas and this was our chance to develop some courage and let it be seen by people we respected and who weren't afraid of giving honest critiques.
Not only did we share a passion for fantasy novels, we shared a passion for a great bottle of wine. A lot of wine was had at these book club meetings (maybe more so than actual writing but I digress). When trying to name our club, I thought about how cool it would be to sit in an intimate setting with some of your closest friends, sipping from a black goblet (an homage to the fantasy genre) critiquing stories and coming up with ideas? Black Goblet was born.
Eventually, as with all good things our little book club came to an end after a good six month run. Okay, it could have been longer than that but you get the idea, it wasn't very long.
Fast forward to 2020.
Pandemic. I lost my day job among so many others in March. So during my hiatus from the world, I decided to bring back my Black Goblet Book Club. My name is Larae Salcedo and I am doing business as Black Goblet, a book club and self-publishing imprint. Yes I am going to try to self publish some of my works - I just need to write them now. I also want this to become a springboard for others who want to self-publish. For now it's just an imprint but who knows what else it could become?
To the Future!
So grab yourself a black goblet, fill it with wine or your beverage of choice, enjoy a good story or write your own.
Cheers! To the writer in you, the writer you are and the writer you will become!
